At Kirton Point Children's Centre we will celebrate National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day at Nunga Playgroup. We have planned a "party theme", including a face painter and balloon artist. We will celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture with art and craft activities, such as making and decorating the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags and masks, playing with playdough made in red, black and yellow and green, blue and white. We will sing and dance with the children to Aunty Wendy's Mob songs and use instruments such as tapping sticks. Staff will provide the children with brand new books from the Indigenous Literacy Foundation and each child will receive a SNAICC National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day goody bag. The children will have the opportunity to decorate a biscuit or cupcake in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander colours. The children and their families will gather for lunch with some special treats.
