Children’s Day 2020
THANK YOU for celebrating National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day (Children’s Day) on 4 August 2020!
See our gallery showcasing how schools, early years, families and communities have celebrated this special day.
We were proud to celebrate our theme:
We are the Elders of tomorrow,
hear our voice

Whether as holders of traditional knowledge or working to uphold the rights and improve the lives of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, Elders are often called upon to provide reassurance, comfort and hope.
Our theme highlighted the uniqueness and importance of the knowledge and wisdom of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, starting in childhood. Hearing children’s voices today plays a crucial role in their development towards being influential Elders and leaders of the future.
Our poster and promotions featured mural artwork at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl by Melbourne’s talented artist Matt Adnate of young Jedda, a Wurundjeri and Kalkadoon girl, who also features in our Children's Day ad with Wurundjeri Elder Aunty Di.

To me, culture means ...
We asked children: What does culture mean to you? in our Children's Day activity sheet
Here's some of the wonderful entries we received!
